¡Palencia

is full of surprises!

One of the least-known provinces of Spain: culture, gastronomy, the Way of St James, magnificent countryside … Discover Palencia, step by step, with all the peace and calm that its landscapes and wealth of culture inspire.

Romanesque architecture is Palencia’s most important legacy; it is the richest province in Europe in this unique architectural style. Enjoy an authentic tour of 12th and 13th century churches.

Landscapes of hills and mountains, an undulating land crowned by hills and mountains that are the source of the Pisuerga and Carrión rivers.

The Castile Canal is an 18th century work of engineering, a navigable canal that crosses through the fields of Castile with a stretch of 75 km taking in the region of Palencia.  The Way of St James or pilgrims’ route to Santiago de Compostela also passes through Palencia from east to west following the route coming from France, one which is full of surprises!!!!

And the crowning jewel … the Roman villa of La Olmeda, a large mansion dating from 4th  century Roman Hispania; an example of Roman presence in this area, with some of the most impressive and best preserved mosaics from that era.
