What should be the ideal temperature of wine?

Follow our advice to learn how wine needs to be served.

Two important factors must be taken into consideration while serving wine: the correct temperature should be achieved, in order to be able to appreciate its characteristics entirely; besides the containing glass needs to be thin and transparent to perceive the color, flavor and evolution. In addition the glasses shall be filled up to their half capacity roughly.

Adjusting the wine to its ideal service temperature means that we will be able to feel the freshness and vitality of the white wines and Andalusian dry Sherries (6-8º), as well as appreciate the rosé's aroma and touch, to the maximum extent. On the other hand, higher temperatures are required for the young and amontillado red wines (14-15º), whereas for the older, Crianza and aromatics some 17 or 18º are recommended.

As weather gets warmer, the way of serving the wine has to be modified to prevent it from reaching 20-25º, which is the ambient temperature at every house, terrace or restaurant throughout this season. For that purpose, it is advisable to keep the wine inside an ice bucket a few minutes before it is served -this varies from the 9 minutes for the Crianza, to 10-12 for the young Red wines, and at one's preference for the white and rosés ones.
