The Château Negredo vineyard played a leading role in the history of wine-growing in Castile and Leon during the 19th century, due to a privileged geographical location and its great capacity to create very successful wines.
The vineyard lies on an impressive outcrop amid rocky terrain and holm oaks at an altitude of 740 metres above the Arlanza Valley, in Palenzuela in the province of Palencia.
The minerality and age of the limestone soils and the characteristic climate of the area combine to endow the wines with certain differentiating traits, quite different from the best-known characteristics of the Tinto Fino grape found in other DO wines.
