Pagos de Negredo Viñedos was established in 1997 when the Primo Cavía family, with its 11 brothers and sisters, born and bred in Palencia, acquired 22 hectares of the Dehesa de Negredo.
Their aim was to recover the tradition of a century-old vineyard that in the 19th century had received several prestigious international awards and, at the same time, to create the benchmark wine of the Arlanza Designation of Origin: Pagos de Negredo.
The vines with which this wine is made, 100% Tinto Fino, grow at an altitude of 740 metres above the Arlanza Valley, well protected by 100-year-old holm oaks. These exceptional circumstances mean that Pagos de Negredo can be classed as château wine.
